Job Description:

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:           Ph.D. (strongly preferred) or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, plus professional registration in at least one state.  Consideration may be given to candidates appropriately positioned to achieve P.E. registration within 12 months of hire date.   Four (4) years or more of non-school work experience in electrical engineering is required.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

This position involves failure analysis, industrial problem solving, engineering investigations, intellectual property issues and product evaluation for customers from a wide variety of industries.  The employee will be responsible for project management and performance of hands-on technical investigations and activities, and will be expected to participate in multi-disciplinary teams.  There will be significant need for highly effective communication via written reports and oral presentations to scientific colleagues as well as clients and lay audiences without a technical background.  The position also includes responsibility for marketing activities, including direct contact with potential clients and development of marketing materials and seminar presentations.

Project work tends to be extremely varied in nature and may involve analysis of high, medium and low voltage systems; testing of power transmission or electrical distribution systems, motors and switch gear; component failure analysis; and non-destructive testing.  Products evaluated can range from locomotives to toasters with types of analyses ranging from fire causation to historical standards research.  Projects may involve providing litigation support for product liability and personal injury lawsuits.  Moderate travel will likely be required, including field inspections and client visits.  Project work may require the ability to walk or climb in challenging environments, carry equipment, climb ladders, bend, twist and reach.

The successful candidate will possess outstanding communication skills and a strong and varied background in R&D, manufacturing or industrial product development.  Experience preferred in product testing, product design, failure analysis, investigations and component selection.  Demonstrated familiarity in consulting and with OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulations related to hazard communication a plus.
