Job Description:

Must be a technical, hands-on candidate with extensive Oracle RAC (10G) experience

SUMMARY

Oversees database administration support for production, development, and test environments to include day-to-day monitoring and maintenance, problem investigation and resolution, backup creation and maintenance, SQL and database optimization and tuning as well as providing technical leadership and leading efforts to research, analyze, and recommend patches, upgrades, and new technologies surrounding all aspects of data management using relational databases.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  •    Manage multiple large scale projects and successfully deliver on high profile/priority projects
  •   Capable of breaking down large projects to clear and definable sub-projects. Direct other Project Managers to drive sub projects to completion
  •   Coordinate and drive cross functional project teams, schedule, install, test and deliver contracted products within scheduled timeline and with a high degree of quality and customer satisfaction
  •   Establish and maintain strong, effective working relationships with clients and coworkers
  • Lead/participate in meetings with customers and internal project resources
  •   Provide continuous feedback on project status and offer constructive options to ensure project continues to meet original expectations
  •   Identify resources and/or schedule conflicts and changing of project scope
  •   Communicate identification and resolution of business/project issues, as well as the monitoring, tracking and reporting on project deliverables to ensure adherence to project plan.
  •   Provide work coordination and management for teams of DBAs, including project lead, project management, task assignment and coordination, and status reporting
  •   Provide support for all Oracle database environments to include problem identification, reporting, tracking, analysis, and resolution.
  •   Research and analyze all assigned anomalies to determine root cause – produce, review, track and log all findings and recommendations.
  •   Participate in production on-call rotation (one week at a time of 7x24 on-call support for production environments).
  •   Monitor database performance and space utilization – investigate and resolve reported issues as well as recommend upgrades / updates.
  •   Architect and oversee database backups and DRP sites.
  •   Architect and oversee database security, roles, user-role assignments, and individual logins per company security policies and procedures.
  •   Architect and oversee data replication as required for each application.
  •   Assist project teams in setting up and testing development, test, and production environments.
  •   Research, analyze, and recommend patches, tools, and/or database upgrades to resolve issues and add features/functionality.
  •   Assist project teams in data modeling and architecting / designing data accesses methods.
  •   Provide technical leadership to the DBA team by assisting junior team members and sharing knowledge and research of tools/techniques, and Oracle features.
  •   Serve as team liaison to project managers for database administration and system administration services

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

May lead teams of up to 15 database administrators. Additionally, may serve as project lead, architect, or project manager to review requirements, designs, and provide work estimates and work breakdown structures to project managers on assigned projects.

 

QUALIFICATIONS - Green card or US citizenship required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

4 year BS or BA degree required in a computer related field or 6 years of directly related work experience in a large-scale IT environment

7 Years Oracle database administration experience to include versions 9I and 10G

7 years SQL experience with expert-level skills in the SQL language

3 Years technical management of DBA teams

3 Years experience in Data Modeling

1 Year Oracle advanced replication, streams, or Golden Gate replication

RMAN/Legato backup experience

 

Optional Experience Desired

MS SQL/Server experience

PL/SQL development experience

Oracle Application Server (not Oracle Applications 11i).

Experience in Oracle RAC (10G)

Experience in Oracle Advanced Security & Data Encryption

Transparent application failover
