Job Description:

In this role you will lead and manage an organization in Information technology chartered with the definition, creation, and lifecycle management of business solutions delivered by IT. You and your management team will work closely with IT account management and our business partners to create and manage new and existing solutions across The Standard’s line of business and service level divisions. This position reports to the Vice President of Business Solutions.

Solution Analysis
Working within business divisions and supporting areas of Information Technology, your team will lead the creation and definition of solutions and systems based on requirements and analysis of the business problem and opportunity. Your organization will work closely with the business and relevant groups in IT to:

• Understand business trends and the art of the possible in specific business domains
• Partner with the business to understand the capabilities they need
• Work closely with Business account management to prioritize and determine solutions
• Define scope, needs, features, use cases, process, requirements, and design for solutions
• Align solutions to existing and future state architecture and infrastructure
• Create and manage functional and non-functional requirements through the solutions lifecycle (traceability, baselines, changes, reuse)
• Ensure solutions fit for purpose working with Quality Assurance and the business though reviews, and testing.

Capability Management
Your team will own the lifecycle of the application assets currently in force by The Standard and will:

• Manage and facilitate maintenance and improvements to internal and externally hosted services and applications.
• Ensure end user satisfaction with provided application and services, making sure needs are comprehended, and any related issues are addressed
• Ensure the application health and the fact it is meeting the business need through captured application usage metrics and service statistics

Operations
To ensure an effective IT operation in servicing Standards business you will lead your team in the creation and support of the following operational activities:

• Work closely with the business and IT in creating responses to Requests For Proposal and Requests For Information where IT needs exist
• Ensure application and services are meeting the business need through captured application usage metrics and service statistics
• Measure the solutions organization deliverables and activities and effectively communicate status and needs through metrics and reporting
• Plan, review, and approve budget for services and application maintenance
• Perform system administration functions in line with IT responsibilities and deliverables

1. Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business or equivalent experience. Advanced degree a plus.
2. Ten or more years of diverse Information Technology management experience required, four or more years of managing a team of managers
3. Strong leadership, facilitation, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills, including conflict management, project management, process management, negotiation, and team building required.
4. Comprehensive experience in requirements engineering, process development, quality assurance, solutions development, and use of solutions and product lifecycles
5. Experienced in mentoring/developing staff and co-workers; ability to successfully manage multiple, complex projects simultaneously
6. Experienced in apply application lifecycle management process and techniques to a large portfolio
7. Proven experience working in a fast paced, results driven, complex, and rapidly changing environment required.
