Responsibilities include: planning, risk management, and contract performance addressing cost, schedule, and technical quality for elements within this organizational unit. Establishes operating procedures that affect organizational unit(s). Interprets, executes and recommends modifications to organizational policies. Develops and administers budgets and standards of performance. Executes decision making which require analysis of alternative courses of actions. Coordinates with SDM Design Managers / Technical Engineering Managers / Design Managers to ensure integration of "Specialty Engineering" functions across a wide range of shipbuilding contracts. Provides both written and oral presentations on status and issue resolution recommendations to subordinates and engineering management. Supports and reports to Director - Specialty Engineering & Design for Producibility & Test. Additional common management responsibiliities as listed in Shipbuilding Management Charter 0001 within command media (SBMC 0001). Basic Qualifications: Bachelors degree in engineering or related technical field (Physics, Math, etc.) with ten (10) years related experience. Requires a broad multi-discipline Engineering background and must be capable of managing the efforts of a disparate group of engineering technical specialties, inclusive of: Noise, Shock & Vibration; Survivability, Aviation Systems, Material / Corrosion Control, and Human Systems Integration. Superior demonstrated communication experience (oral and Written) is required, and the ability to develop and grow technical capabilities in concert with Sector strategic plan. This position requires strong leadership skills and the ability to develop an effective and flexible engineering team that supports integration across engineering, design, and production domains. Secret clearance and / or ability to obtain Secret clearance are required. Relocation Assistance Available.
