ARINC in Annapolis, MD is looking for a Railroad Network Systems Engineer to support our Airports & Surface Transportation Division. This employee will provide distributed network systems engineering and network testing support to railroad and surface transportation related projects.
Responsibilities to include:
. Analyze customer's current systems and network architectures;
. Develop system requirements and design criteria;
. Develop system design concepts, system architectures, and message and control flows for advanced technology systems;
. Develop test strategies, test plans, and test procedures for Positive Train Control and other railroad systems;
. Oversee network and system testing in lab and field environments;
. Assist in client's transition to new systems/technologies;
. Field testing and troubleshooting.
Qualifications Candidate must have a minimum of ten (10) years experience in distributed network design, systems engineering, or communications systems.
. Six (6 +) years of hands-on experience designing and implementing distributed networks, including wireless data links;
. Experience should include four (4) years in a communications/network technical leadership position, and experience coordinating communications and network design or test with other technical areas of system design or development;
. Two (2+) years experience in preparing system documentation, test plans, or test procedures;
. Two (2+) years experience with standard network protocols such as IP, including protocol development or coding;
. Experience in system documentation and application of structured systems engineering processes, including test planning and test execution and documentation;
. Experience in working with customers on requirements, testing, and system documentation, with demonstrated skills in customer interface;
. Proficiency with business software (e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook, Visio etc.);
. Strong written and verbal English skills , with ability to generate complex technical documents;
. Experience presenting technical plans or speaking on technical topics to project teams, clients or other groups as required;
. Ability to work on problems of diverse scope and multiple technologies;
. Ability to work independently or with cross functional teams as required;
. Detail oriented.
Desired Experience:
Experience in IP and other network technologies. Knowledge of railroad technologies desired. Should have experience in system documentation and application of structured systems engineering processes, including test planning and test execution and documentation. Experience in working with customers on requirements, testing, and system documentation, with demonstrated skills in customer interface. Experience working with software tools such as requirements traceability, test planning, automated test execution, or configuration management.
Education or Certification Requirements:
BS in Engineering or Computer Science preferred, PMP or PE a plus
