Job Description:
Title: Head of MFAA Tax Svc
Location: NY-New York
This is a management lead position to head the MFAA Tax Services Department. Responsibilities include (not limited to) managing a department of 20 tax professionals delivering tax services, setting department objectives, participation with the annual strategic planning process, responding to requests for development of new products or services, oversight and coordination of departmental tax related projects, and coordinating the sharing of knowledge on mutual fund tax matters with clients and business partners across all units within the Asset Servicing Sector. This position has significant external facing BNY M image enhancing requirements. The person manages tax professionals responsible for the ongoing tax activities supporting mutual fund and alternative products Fund Administration clients. Significant interaction with all Asset Servicing Sales & Relationship Management Departments is required, as well as Information Technology and Operations. Besides exemplary technical knowledge, people and management skills, a strong client service orientation is key, and the incumbent must work collaboratively with senior colleagues to ensure clients receive best-in-class tax-related services. The job has significant Product Development accountability, and the incumbent will be expected to expand BNY MEL's tax-related product range maintaining the companies first in industry position.Significant management, tax and financial services industry experience at relatively senior levels. Experienced and technically proficient in investment portfolio tax matters, reporting, as well as tax return preparation. Competency working with a wide range of U.S. tax law, including but not limited to the applicable statutes impacting trust, partnerships, investment companies, and U.S. and international tax withholding regimes. Strong aptitude for identifying, analyzing and resolving complex problems.
Ability to lead and deliver effectively & accurately in a client service environment. Strong professional presence to represent BNY Mellon with existing and potential clients. Strong communication and presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to manage, motivate, develop and lead a professional services team. BA/BS degree, MST of JD/LLM required, or equivalent experience, CPA preferred.
